Bill Shannon got his start at K104 in the early 70's, before
becoming
Program Director in late 1976. His span at the station
is one of the
longest, lasting until the late 1980's.
While starting as the morning drive guy, Bill worked afternoons
while
programming the station in the 80's, leading it to a great
growth in
ratings compared to other stations in Erie.
After running a start-up in Kane, Pa., Shannon became PD of WXTA, Country
98 in Erie.
Bill would then accept a position with Mercyhurst College running their communications course
- a position that included overseeing their radio station, WMCE. In 2008, Shannon started an oldies station at
the North East campus of Mercyhust, known as WYNE.
As of December, 2008, Bill stepped down from Mercyhurst and WYNE for personal reasons.
